Attaching back pack straps to Summit Viper

I bought a Summit Viper SD climbing tree stand. As far as I'm concerned the instructions are terrible. Had a friend look at it yesterday and we could not figure out how to attach the backpack straps. The shoulder straps have buckles on the straps that hang down but the single strap where they join is a sewn closed loop is there a part missing. Any help would be appreciated. The umbilical strap was not in the box and I phoned Summit and they are shipping one right away. Just wish they had better parts diagram for each model.

Do the straps come apart at the buckle ? If so, take them apart, wrap the loop end of the strap around the last rung, and feed the buckle end through the sewn loop...then do up the buckle on the shoulder strap part.
If you google Summit Viper, you will see how they attach......hard to explain here..

The supplied strap from summit is not great - yes it works, but it isn't comfortable. At times I hike in a fair ways, and my partner modified his climber with a military knapsack frame. I did the same before last season, and as far as I am concerned that is the best thing going. I got the full bag from a surplus store for $50. The install was as simple as ziptying the frame into the bottom of the foot platform, and reworking the straps & snaps to make it easy to deploy. If you are interested I will post photos.

Sounds like a more comfortable way to carry the stand. I gave up on the tether Summit provided using the straps. Takes too long and in the cold it's hard to spin that buckle so it passes through the other buckle. Backpack straps sound better. I thought about strapping the stand to my deer cart and rolling it into where I hunt then if I shoot a deer I also have the cart with me.

Ya I deleted that buckle function and rigged some quick snaps (from the knapsack webbing) to lash the top and bottom together. This is much faster/easier, and more secure.

[COLOR=#000000]Oh, yes! How frustrating sports equipment does not have normal and understandable instructions. Or sports equipment is poorly sewn. I have been looking for backpacks for a very long time for climbing, so many times they have let me down just awful! And then one climbing instructor recommended me to buy backpacks on the website " Garbage Deleted" and I am very happy with them. They are durable, comfortable, do not squeeze anything and look very good! Just what you need!
