Stealth cam issues
Bought a stealth cam a couple of years ago. Good camera, good pix , long battery life but I went to take it up deer hunting and it wouldn't format the sd card.
I called the company they said do a hard reset. Remove battery and card for a day leaving it in custom mode to drain everything. Did that and it still wont. The company will only offer a half price replacement.
Soooo. Does anyone have any ideas? I don't think I would buy another one if that is there answer. Is there a repair place or is it scrap??
It is a 42 NG . Not sure if the "ng" stands for no good.

I have the G42NG as well, never had this problem. I use sandisk 16gb cards.

I also bought a brand new SD card the same as your thinking that may work. No luck.
Thanx for the input.

Hmm, usually a hard reset involves removing power source then pushing and holding power button down for 10 seconds, but I guess letting it sit for a day will do the same thing.
Have you tried formatting the card on a pc first? Fat32. That's what I've always done, never used the format option on the cam itself.
I assume the sd card isn't locked.
One other option might be to update or just reinstall the firmware. Good luck

One more thing. I read on their faq that if you check the sd card on a digital camera it can screw up the formatting on the card.

I find some cards work and some don't ..... My cameras (1 stealth cam & 2 wildgames ) all have 16 GB Sandisk SDHC Cards that work fine . I can pull the cards and check out the pictures on my Fuji 12 digital camera ...... however if I switch cards out for a 512 MB SD ( Lexar or Verbatim ) I can not view them on the camera , they must be downloaded directly from the game trail camera to the computer before they can be viewed . .. You may also have to reformat your SD cards periodically to your game cameras ... this is as simple as downloading all of your picture to your computer then unhook your camera and delete everything on the card .

I'm extra anal about my cameras because of past problems with them
each camera has 3 SD cards for them I use a sharpe and write the camera name and a number on each SD card and cycle them through the camera in numerical order never mixing up cards. Since doing this I have had no formatting issues
Cards are cheap online I think I bought 30 for $50 a few years ago
