We had a member in our camp that was very fortunate to draw a bull tag in WMU 13 this pass fall but had the misfortune of his wife becoming ill so we were able to transfer the tag to another member. I have heard that because he had to transfer his tag do to medical reasons he is all but guarantied a adult tag next year.
I find it hard to believe with today's tag system that this is true, can anyone share some insight on this.
He keeps his P1 status next year, regardless of the reason for the transfer.
I believe he will be put back into pool 1 for next yrs draw
Yes he will have pool 1 status. If his group is pulled again next year he will be the tag holder again.
If the group gets drawn-he gets drawn.He will also likely be unable to transfer it .Check it out though........
You are correct its a one time transfer. He will retain the tag. Will not be able to transfer next time he receives the group tag,Quote:

He didn't receive a tag in 5 years because your group application was not successful. Had your group continued to apply and were successful that GUY would have received the tag and would not be allowed to transfer. The group tag recipient is always the person who has the most number of years unsuccessful.Quote:

In any group situation ( guaranteed group size, large group allocation, or random draw) the applicant who has gone the longest time applying and not receiving a tag will be the recipient of the tag. The computer will organize the rest of the group members and then assign (the next longest without a tag) - that person becomes the transfer.
the best advice is to read the regs over and over and get a good understanding of how it works. Understanding the regs allows you and your group to manipulate your group and enter the draw in the best position to get a tag (or more). Even if you don't get a tag you a least know you did everything within your power correctly.
most of the whining and complaining is because guys just fill out the applications without a real understanding of what they're doin. BUT in todays moose environment with so few tags you'll win 649 before you get a moose tag :scream:
