Hey Everyone,
Headed up to our camp in Sprucedale in a couple days, was hoping to hear from anyone up there what the ice thickness is like these days on any of the small lakes. I am imagine there is lots but better safe than sorry.
Likely bringing ATV but someone had mentioned to me there is enough snow in the bush for snowmobile (which I find very hard to believe).
Anyway, would love to hear a report from anyone up that way

If I had to pick one it would the snowmobile, although its poor conditions for both.
Theres approximately 6-8" of HARD snow pack in the bush, which is enough to run on, however all the boulders, rocks, and logs etc are exposed creating hazards and obstacles. You might run on top with an atv, but if it softens at all you could be stuck too.
The lakes are either totally bare or have only a light skiff of snow. Ice is still good and solid though.
Roads are bare. Exposed areas are bare/nearly bare

That is a tough call...have a double enclosed sled trailer so may just take both to play it safe. I run a fairly deep lug track with no studs so the ultra-hard-pack snow is not great for my sled but we'll see

sorry for the late reply but ended up taking the ATV only because I didn't want to lug my sled trailer up there.....it was tough going.
I would have been better off with sled that is for sure.
Whats it like up there now? Did you guys get any of that snow that came over the weekend?
Yes. Believe it or not it hasnt really changed much. You could still run a sled right now (-7 this morning, still that hard snow pack in the bush). This coming week will be the first sign of spring we've gotten. By next weekend it will be ATV running, but it will be SLOPPY (high of +10 and sun the next 7 days with some rain on the way)Quote:
