My dogs have been on Nexgaurd for a month already. Waited until April last year and they both got nailed.
The article mentions "Christie Lake " , this is in Christie Conservation Area /Park, it is an area heavily used by pick nick goers , groups playing frisbee golf and ball games and such.
It is also promoted by the City of Hamilton as an area to get out and enjoy the out doors, for this reason, you would think that they would get involved in some kind of eradication programme to get rid of the ticks to minimize human contact, and lessen the chances of humans getting lyme disease which can cause very serious illness in humans.
Ontario is a hot spot !
I spend a lot of time at Christie Lake conservation area. Yes, there are ticks there. I probably had 4 or 5 on me last year.
Big deal. Check yourself out thoroughly when you come out of the field - problem solved. Expensive, or impossible eradication programs don't make sense to me.
