Has anyone replaced their well pump and pressure tank lately? I just got a quote of $2500 (parts and labour) to do both, which seems excessive. I can buy both for $600~ at Home Depot. Where does 1500+ in labour come from?

$2500 is way excessive. Pump and tank might be better quality than what home depot sells but not enough to justify that price.
I could get you a high end constant pressure system for probably 1500 installed if i did residential and make money. Unless there is something strange going on with the install it shouldn't take more than an hour or two including the time to prime the new pump.
Thats what I thought. Was just down at the local hardware store and he commented as much.
Hopefully my current pump has enough life left in it to last me a while yet.
That price is way more than excessive? The guy who quoted must be taking you for a sucker? Tell him to hit the road?
I dont really blame him, it was a larger company and he just reading from their catalog. I was polite and thanked him for the quote as he did do me a bit of a favour for the other matter I had him in on.
I mean, Im pretty sure I can do this on my own. It doesnt look like rocket science.
Ya, when the time comes to actually put one in I'll be shopping around.
I mean, it cant be that hard to actually install one, right? I have basic plumbing knowledge. Im seriously considering just buying them on my own and treating it as a learning experience. Youtube has got me through a lot big chunk of home ownership, lol.
if your existing tank isn't that old make sure its not under warranty still. some of the higher end ones come with a decent warranty, could save you some ching
