Combination Guns, does anyone on here use them for actually hunting?

I was having my morning coffee before I had to face the shingle pickup and inevitable calls and went to Tradex .... I got curious if anyone uses them for actually hunting and for what? Rabbits and varmints are the only things I could think of so I present some interesting combinations that were there.

Oh that 22/410 looks nice to bad about stock cracks
Had a 22/20 in my hands at a gun show still kicking myself for not scooping it up think it make nice squire gun

I have never actually seen many people with the high power rifle - shotgun combo's out but a few with the 22 - shotgun combos. Especially good for trappers.

I guess in Europe, they have a lot of join seasons ie hare and hogs, etc. and they like to carry the larger caliber just in case they see a hog during upland hunting. Some merit here for sure too. You are grouse hunting and still have a bear, moose, deer tag etc.

They had quite a few combinations, there were some with 222, 7x57R and a few other calibers but those caught my eye and I have seen lots of them over the years...but can't recall anyone that actually used them.

In the 20 guage they had quite a few that would fit the grouse/deer gun.

I use a Blaser ES67 in 16ga over 5.6x50R for coyote coming to calls. #4buck in the shotgun for up close and 40grain varmageddon out to 250yards.

I have a Savage .22 long rifle and 20ga combo, I do not find the open sights very accurate so tend not to use it very often,nice little survival gun as it breaks down for back pack size.

I have used them for Varmint control. It’s ok I guess.
Better options out there - IMO.

A few users with different calibers... thanks.

Do you reload? 5.6x50R looks like a rare round. That sounds like the best use that I could see for it too. How's that round to shoot? Size wise seems like similar to a .223 round.

I like the 6.5x55 and it got my attention but for a combo gun... interesting but would likely be a safe queen... so I was wondering if people actually used them with much success.

The problem with any double barrel is the alignment for accuracy and a rifle would have to be the main focus when sighting I would expect.

I can and have bought 5.6x50R at tradex. Once I started to reload it though is when I saw shocking accuracy. I can make three shots touch at 100 yards off a bench with a cold clean barrel all day long. It helps that it has a set trigger and a 2-7 Hertel and Reuss claw mount scope too. It doesn’t like to get warmed up with multiple shots, but with a CCB it drives tacks. The cartridge is a bit hotter than a 223 and is very popular in Europe.
The 16ga I also load in #4 buck. It’s a 1oz load and it throws 20 pellets. Patterns well out to 30-40 yards cause the gun is tightly choked.
I would LOVE to find a drilling as a 16x16 over 6.5x55. Versatile deer gun!

Thanks, I don't think I had ever seen or heard of it to my knowledge. I'm always curious about the variety out there and that sounds like a real good setup and better when reloading. As for the drilling that would be a rare one and the price .... would show I bet... and if you ever find it post a picture!!! Kind of like this set.

They have a nice looking 12ga with 6.5x55 that looks real nice and a few others that look interesting. This one is the one I was looking at, I like the calibers.
