Canada Hunts East

Was skimming through my PVR'd hunting shows last night and this one I had recorded as it was based in Ontario. Two guys were hunting deer during rifle season in Mckerrow (west of Sudbury). Pretty much the entire episode was them walking in and out of their stand with hunter orange on, and when they get into the blinds or tree stands they always had their orange cloths off when doing their monologs. I was seriously dumbfounded by this, the fact they recorded themselves breaking the law and the fact that the episode would actually air on television. The guys claimed at the beginning of the episode that they had been hunting their whole lives. Maybe the rules on hunter orange changed and I am not aware.

Unfortunately common sense isn't so common anymore.

With editing the monologues could have been recorded the next day or even the next week.

For example.
I have to record a couple monologues for my fishing show. A while after video was taken out on the lake, the cameraman, a soundman, and I head down to the local park. Yup I am standing there in my fishing vest, hat , and a fishing rod. There is a " No Fishing" that can plainly be seen over my left shoulder. Am I fishing Illegally? No I am doing a monologue for the camera.

So some question as to exactly how it was done.

Agreed the optics don't look/sound good but also agree that the monologs are often done after the fact and are used to set-up or explain hunting segments based on the footage and may be different from how the show was planned out on paper before the shoot.

I don't buy that in this case. I don't believe that a guy sitting in his stand or his blind with rifle in hand and no orange on is actually not hunting when he says he has been hunting for about 3 hours and hasn't seen anything.

You got a video camera? Try taking HD quality video in low light. I would bet they hunted, took a few minutes of video out the blind window and around the blind and then shot the rest of the monologues on the lawn back at the house/lodge.

Sounds simple but the amount of gear a videographer has to carry would be a real problem in some cases.

But if you are so sure that Illegal things were done, then it is your duty to report it to the MNRF.
Do you have the number, or should I post it for you.

The "Evidence" is in your PVR player not mine.

I watched the show you're speaking off. I will admit that it was confusing because some points during the episode they were in the woods in regular camo and others they had on their reflective vest. I was not aware that there are times during the shoot when the monologues where done separately.
