Anyone else noticed the great number of tent caterpillar nests in the trees. I regularly travel between Brampton and Peterborough and haven't this many for quite a few years.

It's been great weather for them, in our area the walnut trees are covered very heavily with them.
Black cherry trees are covered by them here
My brother has speculated that the grouse numbers go up after a good season of tent caterpillars. He might just be a half full kind of guy though.
I'm also seeing this on my drive between Stratford & Seaforth.
I feel left out, I don't think I counted maybe a dozen or so this year on the ground and no tent caterpillar nests in any of the trees around our area.
They're actually a critter known as the fall webworm. The good news is there are many natural 'predators' so their control is a done deal.
Too bad they don't catch cats. I'm sure Bushmoose would be happy about it.
