I can't confirm the accuracy of this story. If correct, it is highly disappointing. I am getting tired of high rollers finding their way around the rules all over the place with the flash of their wallets. Nothing new, I know, but . As for the sale of the permit in the beginning, that is equally disappointing.
That's not surprising,at all. Right here in southern Ontario,Moose tag reductions are the order of the day to the point many WMU50 moose camps are folding,mine included. :sad: They haven't been able to get an adult tag in 5 years even with applying as a group of more than 8,unable to generate member enthusiasm from needing to arrange vacation time around the schedule change to a Saturday opener,ostensibly to "add an extra day" (??) rather than leaving it on the Monday and adding the day to the following Sunday instead of the following Saturday (if that was their real intention in the first place) all to only hunt a calf. As for political BS,I know of a camp that despite all the tag reductions,have managed to garner two Bull tags and a Cow tag in the area with no guaranteed group size. There's only 7 hunters in that camp. I find it very strange that 4 out of the 7 just happen to be Ontario government employees in one capacity or another. Things that make you go H-m-m-m-m-m. :ninja:
Gov. employees, do somehow get special privileges.
A number of years ago, the MNR came to a farm whom the owner I know, they trapped a large flock of turkeys and when questioned by the owner as to the outcome of these turkeys, he was told "that these birds would be released at a special site for a special hunt for some Gov. employees. "

The farm owner was really pizzed off and told them "never to appear on his land again " , to my knowledge they have not returned.
Oh come on we all know rules only apply too the other guy. Its too easy to cry poor to get special treatment/advantage over the next one or money does talk. My biggest beef is the musky fishing research being done on Cooks bay. For the average joe the season is closed yet for a select few in the name of "research" hey go ahead.
we had a local co who went toe to toe with his superiors about this same thing only trout they wanted to fish way up stream for a shoot about 3 weeks before season opened they were getting permit the warden said no way show me where the science is... he stuck to his guns and said he would charge them and the bio that gave them the permit .... he won... that was 30 years ago
I always liked the CRAA guys and their special permits to fish the sanctuaries on the Credit, doing "atlantic salmon research." I bet they had a great time fishing steel with pools all to themselves. Must be nice.
