Finally Bought a New Used Pickup

So this is the truck I'm buying. Truck is in excellent shape, Underneath is in excellent shape has always been undercoated.


2005 Laramie Longhorn Ram 1500


4 WD on the floor (So no computers, thank goodness)


143,000 KM's


5.7 Hemi


Loaded, I feel like I'm on the star ship enterprise. (wish it wasn't hate electronics)


Tonau box cover


Can tow just shy of 11000 pounds. (I have no idea what I would haul weighing that much I do have a trailer up North that can hold 2 bush cords that's probably around 4000 - 6000 pounds


I still have a few things to do to it. Needs to be undercoated for this year and I need an ATV Ramp, needs a block heater as it won't fit in the garage. There are 3 super facial rust spots that need attention.


Just in time I got a load of 8 cords of free firewood to pick up this weekend and next week is Deer Season.


Oh and if anyone want's to lose weight this winter I will have about another 15 cords of firewood to split. I split and piled 21 cords back in Aug with a splitter going to do this wood by hand..

So why did I go with Dodge?

Not much difference between the Chevs and Dodges when it comes to ride and maintenance. Each have their good points, each have their down side. Of late, they're both running out of options and gadgets to attract the new customer. I did find the Dodge had a bit more noticeable power than the Chev but it came at the expense of lower gas mileage. And after driving both I now don't miss the slight loss of power with the Chev as I'm driving a lot more long distance than before so the better gas mileage is appreciated.

Sounds like you found a good unit. I'm sure you'll get good use out of it. A word of caution however, don't park it close to your wood pile?

Actually it will be going under the car port as it won't fit in the garage. But I don't build the woodpile as high now. :). Next year I am building a shed along the car port so no more worries than.

Congrats on the new-to-you truck!

It is refreshing to see someone excited about a 13-year-old truck, as I would be. When I see posts about a new toy that is worth more than my house I somehow can't relate!

Don't get between karen and her 15 year old 4runner. It's driven a lot of bush roads and trails, cleared snow drifts on the highway, and even driven through four feet of snow in the median of the 401. But I think it has to do more with the memories of puppies, camping, fishing, and hunting trip.

I gave up my 2000 4Runner 4x4 with a manual transmission last spring. Huge mistake :(

5 seats wasn't working for our family of 6. Went to a 2004 Honda Pilot which is now burning oil like crazy and stalling at intersections. Grrr....

I've owned two 4Runners....to this day , still the best vehicles I've owned for hauling two 'hockey' kids around during Ontario winter. I miss especially miss the 22RE engines.


Good trucking with the 'new-to-you' P/U GW...I know you'll put it thru it paces, not like most of the trucks out there that never leave hard stand.
