Duck hunting in the snow
Earlier this year I built a blind using skids and brushed it in with cedar branches. Now the snow has the blind blending in better than ever and the cold weather has frozen some of the shallow spots leaving the area in front of the blind open. I went out Friday morning with an old friend and we had a great morning. The first flock of 5 decoyed in well and my buddy and I managed to empty our guns without bringing down a single duck. We both gave each other the gears and had a good laugh. Thankfully our shooting improved and we shot 3 nice greenheads.
It was also nice to see a pair of Wood Ducks around still. Here is a shot I took of 2 of the Mallards with the river in the background .

Great pic from the blind congrats

Nicely done, I like duck hunting in the snow. I find once the main water freeze up all the ducks hit the creeks and steams.

That photo with the two mallard drakes should be on the front cover of a magazine or make a great postcard. Well done...

Except for the dead ducks, it looks like a Christmas card. Mind you, I like to see what folks harvest. That background scenery is just surreal.

That's one of the coolest pic I've seen in a while...Good stuff!!

Attachment 37666Attachment 37667I went out the other morning when it was -19 with Tom Gobble from this forum. The river was frozen and I had to break ice to set up decoys. Lots of ducks flying around but nothing close. Great to be out with someone new. A beautiful morning. Her are a few pictures.

The pics are amazing but getting the opportunity to enjoy it in real life was even better. It’s was a great time out and JMatthews is a stand up guy. Thanks again John
