Has anyone had success with long bow or recurve?
Workin on it. I did manage to take a bear in June with a recurve.

I was really good with one when I was 15-16 but could not keep from moving to see a deer within the range of my recurve, would have loved to have a shot with it but did not happen.
Now I have a family and no time to practice, even the compound has not been out in over a year.
Yes, 7 deer, during the late 80's into early 90's I shot vintage bear recurves and a Black window recurve, I stll shoot them today but only use them to hunt cottontail now
I bought a 45# modified recurve when I was 16-17 and shot "instinctively" (no sight pins, etc). I recall shooting just over the back of a small buck one outing, that's about it. However, as I recall, the MNR instituted a minimum draw weight shortly after that at a slightly higher draw weight than my recurve so I went with a cheap compound. I see that it is in the regs now at 48.5# for Moose and Bear, and 39.7# for deer.
