My wife is a fair weather crossbow hunter. Gets out with me 4 - 5 times a year. She's still looking for her first deer but it will come; she sits as still as a pine cone!
My wife has her license, has been out for turkey, grouse, geese and deer, she has been able to connect with some geese but nothing else yet. Our daughter has made things interesting, she wants to get out to get some quiet but also does not want to leave her when she is having a moment. Our daughter has her first rifle already but still too young to go shooting.
Woman hunter here. I've hunted ruffies, sharpies, woodcock, snipe, rabbits, wild pheasants and as well as plenty of released pheasants & chukars locally with my Weims.
I wish my Wife would hunt or sit with me.
I have a better chance of winning the Lottery though than getting her involved in hunting...lol
My daughter hunts waterfowl with me, and a friend of hers where they go to hunt at Hullet.
This past saturday she went somewhere on her own with her 2 Labs. and came back with pheasants that she had shot.
As a matter of fact , we are going duck/goose hunting later this afternoon.
Karen is always asking me if there are women that hunt on the forum. I can say yes, but without having a flag on the profile to tell who is who it's hard to tell her how many.
I don't think it matters if someone is a guy or girl when it comes to hunting, but women trying to find other on a male dominated forum is hard.
I think it would be good, but there would be problems. Is it a ladies only? Will they have to post in other threads to ask questions simply because the small number of ladies can't answer all the questions? Should it be mainly a thread for finding each other, or a section for lady related threads?
Time will tell.
Yes, she does. I have tried to get her to take the dog and go out by herself, but she needs more confidence at this point. She mainly hunts rabbits, squirrels, and grouse. She gets a bear tag, and two ( the max allowed) wolf seals when we go up north, but we don't actively hunt bear or wolf, but with the tags we can legally deal with an approach that is too close.
She has two shotguns( 12o/u 20pump) .223 rifle, 10/22 and her air rifle. She has shot more birds with the air rifle then the shotgun:thumbup:.
My wife is also not confident enough to hunt on her own yet, although I stay back at the cabin with our little one and she goes out. I can take time off work to hunt but she gets a weekend and a couple days during the week to get out there.
She will not hunt rabbits, we raise them for meat but she will not kill the meat ones either, had them as pets when she was a kid.
I need to get her out on grouse next year, nice and warm and a good time for her to go for a walk with the 20ga.
She has been beside me on 1 deer and 1 turkey, just was not the trigger man (person) on those occasions, just not lucky yet.
