How many Still at it----What is your game plan now

Well My son and I have the freezer meat for our selves, but other family members love venison too, so with our License tags and 1 additional archery tag left we are still planning a couple more hunts.
I checked cameras on Sunday and it was the first time that two of the spots did not have a single deer and one spot only had deer visit twice , at night. One of the properties, we share with another set of
hunters ( we take Nov they take Dec, and they do not bow hunt) the landowner told me that the guys never saw a deer, but he said this year all they did was walk and stalk, thinking maybe they pushed the deer and made the nocturnal. I saw foot prints everywhere, I will lay some corn back out Saturday and hit the stand Sunday. The week before we had 2 spikes, One 8 point which had one side all busted up, a very nice 10 point, a 4 point one side and a spike the other side, and a pike one side and nothing on the other side, someone has bad genetics and we would like to take one or both of those deer.
Last two times out all I had come by were fawns, seeing a fair number of fawns this year.
One thing I did notice was a fair number of coyote tracks. so in the new year may have to go out and see it we can not take a few, Have had a few on camera and they look extremely healthy, and we are
seeing an increase in rabbits, so maybe that bring the yotes in.

So what are your plans?

I'm tagged out & freezer is in good shape as well. I may get out over the holidays to help a buddy fill his additional archery tag. That is if he wants to go...lol

If we do go we will hunt the food sources. They will be hitting the corn & cut beans big time...

My freezer is full to overflowing, so I am debating not filling my tag. My wife and sons eat ground venison, occasionally sausage. But I shot a very large buck this year party hunting in the November controlled hunt and hate to shoot another deer when I know it may not get eaten before it gets freezer burnt. Still seeing modest to reasonable numbers, but have to agree that the MNR was likely right not to issue additional tags in 87. Just set up a feeder on Sunday, but primarily out of curiosity. I plan to when I have time again, between Christmas and New Years.

The scouting will be starting again soon, they will not be in the same place as earlier in the year and this year they were not in the same place as last year or the year before, so I have no idea where they may be right now.

We have some venison, goat, lamb and a half a steer coming in the new year so not a huge push but I spotted a monster close by and it got my blood pumping again.

I'm still out , going to keep going to the end of the year, my spot just has a doe and a fawn , the other the deer seem to be nocturnal
But either way I'll be out , passed on small buck during the controlled hunt

Filled one tag, have one left. Going to try some mid-day hunts, and hunt between bedding and food. I'm Hunting pretty heavily pressured land, but there seems to be no one there during mid-day so I would like to see if that will yield any success.

I'm still at it. I haven't be able to get out as much this year as I would have liked, but with an 8 month old at home and the wife being pregnant again it is tough to find time. I'll probably get a couple days between Christmas and New Years where I can try to fill the freezer. I put out some corn and grain and it has been hit regularly. I don't have a camera out so not sure what or how many are coming to it. But some of the tracks are fairly large. Hopefully I'll get lucky before the season ends.

Now that the control hunt is complete, I am going to get out once or twice with a buddy to try and fill one more before season end... I will be concentrating on the food sources.... This weekend looks like it is going to be tough walking in the fields.... With the rain on the way, maybe a still hunt in the bush is in order

the deer at my farm have disappeared for the winter as per usual. my buddy about 20 mins from my farm I hunt late season with because he has them coming 9-10 at a time there. we harvested 3 last week and will try and get a few more there before seasons done. Plain and simple game plan. set up the bait pile and just wait for them to get hungry. works like a charm over there. cedar bush in a circle shape with bait pile in the middle opening. like clock work they come at 430-5pm every day/ other day.

I hunt travel paths as the deer travel to the winter yards in the gullys alone the rivers..
