Going to try coyote hunting this year

HI all I think I'll try some coyote hunting this year I have always wanted to and am intrested in it.

What's a good caller with decoy.

Also I have a public land spot that I could hunt some trails ppl walk dogs or hunt rabbit in some areas or ride 4 wheelers when not slowed but my question is will I be able to call in the coyotes what type area should I try feild areas woods old pit with woods around it and feild on other side..

And I will attempt to talk to some farmers to try to get other properties

I find it is best while coyote hunting to keep it simple, Most success I have had is with a simple dying rabbit hand call and a mouse squeaker, combined with a mojo thingy. (Sorry can't remember the name of it) I do have a Fox Pro caller but have yet to call one it with it. For a gun I use a simple Savage Axis in .223 and park my butt in my Turkey hunting chair.

Thanks for the tips and I have a savage axis 243 I'll be using

Guys, Go and read everyone of Fratri's posts. He is a great coyote hunter, who uses pictures that he marks up, with wind direction and his set. I have learned so much from his post in when I started coyote hunting 4 yrs ago. Wind is always key, and being set up before calling. If there is a couple thing I have learned from him, is the absolute need to be still, and located offset of the wind. Coyotes have amazing sight and I get busted more on 'Sight" then smell.

Wow, we have the exact same setup, like exact same......lol. The mojo thing is called "MOJO Outdoors Super Critter Predator Decoy with Sound", got mine cheap on Amazon. Shooting the same rifle with Hornady Superformance Vmax rounds.

As for the op, farmers gladly let you take coyotes, just dont be a complete when some lets you on their property. Keep your gear simple, sit comfortably because movement is a dead giveaway and always be mindful of the wind. Keep your eyes open, scan the tree lines, coyotes camouflage really well.
