There's no excuse for that. Trappers know the regs on snares and trap placement. I hate to think a bona fide trapper did that, but, whoever did it needs a kick right in the berries.
Morons....
Lucky someones dog wasn't hurt.
call me crazy and maybe I am a bit cynical but I wouldnt rule out some left wing anti-trapping anti-hunting nut job rigging this as a PR stunt to give trapping another black eye...
It could very well be a legitimate pest control company that was contracted by the city to do so. There are trappers working for nusiance wildlife removal companies who routinely trap in the city. I'd be inclined to think this, since certified humane footsnare was used. I've yet to see a dog (or coyote, fox) injured in any Belisle footsnare. Perhaps there have been complaints about the yotes in this particular park.
Fenelon both the MNR were there as was Peel Police so i dont think it was a critter CO. plus they only showed about 8 ft of wire. No belisle set up/.
False flag. Traps set by anti hunters/trappers trying to further their cause.
You're right, I don't know. I'm assuming it would be a Belisle when I saw "foot snare" mentioned. It's the most common one on the market and it has passed AIHTS certification for humane restraint. Definitely not a legal trapper doing nuisance animal removal if they are using standard suspended land snares with a killing snare lock.
