I would love to see a VERY healthy population as far south as lake Erie, Lake Ontario and from Windsor east to the Quebec border, AND no season for the next five years.
Archery only season after five years. Let the tree huggers enjoy their company till then.
They have been in this area before, Kitchener , Cambridge, Dundas, a few years ago, a friend had seen one a couple of times on his farm south and west of New Hamburg, they do no harm but people tend to get all excited and in a couple of instances they have been shot for no reason.
Leave them alone and they wander off to find suitable home areas.
looks like they're making their way down from Bruce peninsula, ive always been interested in bear hunting. my father doesn't seem to keen on it though haha. said it feels like gutting a bear seems to much alike gutting a human haha.
I live between Courtice and Bowmanville. There's a very healthy Bear crew living around here that are seen running fields on a regular basis that's actually kind of nice to see.
We had one on our property several years ago. It was quite bold but not presenting a threat to our livestock. It would have been an easy shot but I decided to let it go on its way. It was eventually shot near Hamilton by MNR.
