Mid June signals salmon time of the bluffs. So on such a nice forecast had to head down to Lake O. Usually hit Bluffers but with the high water figured the ramps would be washed out. So figured try Ashbridges.
Took my time getting down and was on the water by 6:30. Red sky sunrise and flat lake made for a great start. Dropped the 2 riggers and sat back to enjoy the day. 1/2 dozen boats out scattered about most popping a fish here and there. Nice thing about early season week day troll its really stress free. Not like the craziness when the bite really is on. Had my hit at 8 when I first grabbed the rod thought it was just a shaker. That was until it turned and ran. Slipped it back in the holder popped the 2nd rod and cleared the riggers. Ya I like to clear the board it allows me to throw the boat in neutral and enjoy the fight of the fish and not the pull of the boat. Eventually netted a chinook of about 15 lbs. A little bigger than I like to keep for the table but first fish so into the live well it goes. Very little noise on the screen confirmed bait /salmon/water is not quite there yet.
Second fish hit about 9 another chinook but about 4 pounds a little smaller than I like to keep but fish was on the menu tonight. Water cold enough to keep the first lively and back it went. Called it a day around 11:30 as wanted to be home before rush hour traffic.
Forgot the camera so no trip pics but here is some POF of the little one ready for the 'que
