More people to round out our group for a Quebec Moose Hunt
Hi Folks,
I'd posted this here a few years ago, and had some interest, so figured I'd see if there's interest again.
One of our guys has some health issues and can't make it this year/maybe never again. We're looking to add one or two members to our hunting party for our hunt in Quebec (~300km from Ottawa -> 200 road, 100 gravel).
A little about us:
We've got 40+ years of moose hunting experience between the two of us and have been hunting all other game for equally as long. We hunt hard but have fun doing it and we're always learning. We're francophones but completely bilingual, either way works.
The spot:
We use a lodge which provides us exclusive access to our territory. This will be our fifth year in this spot after leaving the Ontario fiasco behind. We get a cabin with woodstove, propane fridge and cots. We head up on Friday before the hunt opens and leave the following Saturday. We've got salt licks and tree stands running in some of the better spots. There's LOTS of bush to walk, in addition to some trails and some logging road.
Who you are:
You don't need experience but you do need enthusiasm and gear. We enjoy sharing our lessons and (many) failures! You need to be ready to pitch in on everything, this isn't a guided or catered hunt, we're self-reliant once we get there. That means everything from pre-hunt supply runs, packing, etc.. to cooking, cleaning, and everything else once we're out there. You'd be our partner, not our client.
Other details:
Approximate cost: all-in (including the ~500$ non-resident Moose tag) is in the $1600-$1800 range. We run detailed spreadsheets and split costs evenly.
Success rate: We've been skunked four years in a row. There's always been moose in the area, but we're either not lucky or just bad moose hunters. The outfitter's stats are in the 50-60% success rate year to year. This is not a super high density zone like Newfoundland, but we've always gotten answers and seen sign.
Date this year is Sept 27-Oct 6 (first week of the hunt), tags are for all genders this year (they alternate bull and bull+cow)
If you're interested, send me a message and we can get talking about more details.
Talk soon,
Burt
