4 goose evening
I went back to the same place I was at Sunday morning but this time it was a late afternoon hunt. Setup by 6pm and waited... Birds started coming in around 6:30....
Funny how things play out.....the first small flock of 4 birds come.into my spread, wings open ready to land.... I stand and for the life of me, (I don't know why)instead of pulling the trigger I pump the action (ejecting a round).... What the heck am I doing (goose fever?)
I recover quickly and drop 2 out of the 4 birds.... Had a few more small flocks come in, missed a few but managed
a few more.... Picked up my decoys and was gone before last light...
Not a bad way to watch a sunset :) but I think this field is just about done for these geese, they seem to know the jig is up plus corn is being taken off in some of the fields in my hunting area.
Setup at the same location but just arranged my decoy spread to accommodate the slightly different wind directin

nice birds and fun story. yeah jitters often get the best of us, popping the safety back and forth and then not knowing why the gun wont fire. glad you got a few!

nice hunt. Stuff happens to us all. Was deer hunting with my dad and 3 others, we were just walking through bush to setup a new drive, when 4 deer ran across in front of us. We fanned out and loaded rifles. When it was all over guns empty and not a deer scratched. My dad looks down and there are 6 unspent 3030 shells. He didn't pull the trigger either just racked the lever when he heard others shoot.
