Woodcock Limit Today With Bonus

Had a great day in the uplands today. Started off first thing in the morning with a quick warm up hunt at Hullet. Where I manged to put a rooster pheasant in the bag. On my way out saw two pheasants on the side of the road and almost changed my mind and stayed there, but I had the woodcock migration on my mind. So I continued to another property to try my luck. Well my idea paid off, as the woodcock where in thick. Ended off with my limit plus two bonus grouse. After I shot my last bird as I was walking out, we where still flushing birds. A memorable day, fellow woodcock hunters I think this is going to be the week. Have fun out there.

For the folks who would be interested in knowing how I prepared the woodcock for the table this is what I did.
I marinated the woodcock meat for over night in a mixture of white wine, soy sauce, crushed garlic and salt, pepper. You could add what ever seasoning you like. Then sauteed the meat in melted butter, medium rare. legs well done. If you over cook the breast meat it will take on a livery taste.
