Seems that the general consensus is that the .300 round is not much good past 100 yds. There are slug guns with better ballistics. The Wilson Combat is not a very "likable" type of firearm to the anti's and could generate a lot of attention. Just my opinion. I think if I had one, it would just be for fun at the range not to carry in the woods...........................Daniel
Are you from Phoenix Arizona?
Take a look at his location, they are still allowed to say "F the antis" here we cant because we would be labelled "antiist "
To the OP, best recommendation is to find a place packing lots of glass and start peeking through some. Given the limitations of the 300BLK I would be opting for a reflex style red dot.

In the hunting fields, especially in the deer woods, the .300 BLK is an acceptable, if not overwhelming choice. ... Were I using a Blackout on a deer hunt, I'd most definitely choose a premium hunting bullet in the 125- to 135-grain range, as they'll give the proper terminal ballistics.Aug 8, 2017
460 meters
From a 16 in (410 mm) barrel, a 125 gr (8.1 g) 300 BLK round has a lower velocity and similar bullet drop and drift at shorter distances. However, it has the same amount of energy at 700 meters that the M855 has at 500 meters. In terms of hit probability, the Blackout has an effective range of 460 meters.
I pulled the above from the webb!
