I like the possibility of more consistent limits for geese in my WMU #84
Not sure the changes will really matter in that aspect, this year you would gain 1 day of 5 bird limit over 3. Other years you might loose a day or 2. They say it’s to simplify things......... what’s so confusing about the Nov 1st date every year??? To me it will add more confusion for those who already have issues reading/comprehending the regs.
I personally hate the 3 bird restrictions...........every time I hunt in those areas they have more geese than the non restricted areas to the west. The james bay goose populations are no longer declining...............
Guys in area 94 should like the increase to 3 birds over 2........again a restricted area that I don’t agree with, the area has a ridiculous amount of geese all fall and winter.
How about a late season everywhere? Take the days off the end of the regular season in Sunday zones. It really is that simple.
I wish they could call the early "local" goose season a nuisance season and not count it in the 107 days allowed (similar to what they do for snow geese in the spring) ... maybe even have a winter hunt for the same reason and not count them in the 107 days ... I hate when the goose closes near the end of December and geese are swimming around in the decoys when we can only shoot ducks, and those January geese are really all locals which are overabundant here ... it won't fly, but would be a good idea and give us more chances to lower the local populations.
