March 9th a great morning
Well had another amazing morning on the hard water. To bad I am only able to get out 1 more time this weekend for the whitties. The whitefish season and ice season are quickly coming to an end on simcoe. Ended my quick morning landing 7 of the 10 whitties I hooked into from 8 till 1145am. Missed 2 other quick taps ,2 of the fish I lost about 10 ft off the bottom. The 3rd fish I lost is slightly my fault it hit once left came back stuck again then when it hit a third time I just lifted it up lol. Didnt really set the hook and just did a lift then realize I should set the hook and it was gone lol. Oh well 7 others on the top side is ok.
This is an area I noticed having some smaller fish so my plan was to keep a few smaller ones. # 1 was a nice eater at 21 inch, fish 2 and 3 were decent but not monsters at 11 I was thinking about heading so I kept the 4th a 24 incher. Next 3 fish were all getting smaller again lol. My last one fish 7 was a nice fish under 20 inches probably closer to 18 inches.
Fishing number 3 just inhaled my meegs lol. Never had one gulp the entire bait ,it was a first time I couldn't grab the lure and pull the fish out.
Anyway the closer weekend should be fun meeting with a few friends on the Saturday or Sunday. What ever day is nicer as I will have my daughter looking for her first whitefish.
