A clean barrel + first shot, is almost always a flyer. A fouled barrel first shot is usually pretty close to warm barrel tight group POA...opening up more as the barrel gets hotter.
Most shooters go hunting with a 'dirty' barrel. The 1st shoot is the only one that counts.
He is right, if your first shot with a 'cold' fouled barrel can be a fixed known and accommodated for, it will make you a better shooter
