Covid 19 testing how does it work?

This is just a curiosity question....Something I have been trying to figure out (understand).....
How does it work...
I mean they want to test 9.000 people or more a day. How do they get the 9,000 different people tested each day. Does the healthcare system go out seek these people out. Or do the 9,000 different people walk into a testing centre each day (no idea where those are located) or is there a van with a testing equipment going around the town each day? How or where do these 9,000 people come from each day.
Personally I know of no-one that has been tested or been asked to be tested..... Anyway, just a mindless question....Yes I am bored...

There was a list of sites in our area published where you could be tested. You have to go on line first to see if you qualify. It is usually at local hospitals. You could probably find the information from your local board of health or health unit.. I’s sure a google search can find it for your area. From a google search

Ok but are there that many people each day asking to be tested? Then what, those people go to those sites for testing?

They would be turned away.
The test site are not open for anybody to request a test.
Must be recommended to the test site.

The last I heard it takes 1 or 2 days to get results.

So they are recommending, reaching out to more than 9,000 different people a day to be tested?

Around here there is a number to call if you suspect you might have Covid. A dedicated test ambulance was to come to where you were and do what was needed. You were not to go to the hospital if you had the symptoms unless you could no longer breathe well.

Given human nature, everyone with the sniffles started calling in and overwhelmed the test crew. I don't know if it's even in operation as tests are to be for people who could cause the bug to spread, if someone has it and they are sitting at home a positive test is a wasted test.

But still, how do they get 9,000 plus people coming in everyday.... just can't figure it out how that really works....

It’s weird how some people havent been touched by Covid such as yourself Fatri, and others have. In our extended family it’s touched 3 people in different degree’s and ways.
I still have one Uncle I’m worried about. He was moved from Ross Memorial at the start to an LTC. Thank god it wasn’t Pinecrest in Bobcaygeon.

Fatri, if we have 1,000 hospitals in Ontario ( no idea the actual number) they just have to test an average of 9-10 each per day. What I dont understand is why some places can get results in 2-3 days, others are taking up to two weeks.

The testing is kind of a joke at best. When the so called testing first started coming to your door unless you answered every question to their satisfaction they turned you down and told you to just stay home for 2-3 weeks. My wife has a family member working at the assessment clinic at our local hospital and we have been told the same, unless you meet all the criteria they are just sending people back home. She tells us daily most of the people being screened are not being tested. They are just telling the people the same to go home and stay home.
