Calvary Coming
Set up in my favorite spot for the opener and the goblin started early.
i had 1 tom behind me and about 4 or 5 different ones in the bush in front of me.
The one behind gobbled at me for about 20 minutes then went silent for bit started goblin again about 10 minutes later
but was getting further away then I hear a shot and it was over for that bird as the neighbor north of me shot it.
I waited for a while and let things settle down before calling again and as soon as I started calling the goblin started again
and was getting closer this went on for about 10 minutes and then i noticed all these heads coming over the hill it was like watching a war movie it was a line of turkeys about 30 yards wide coming over the crest of the hill and couldn't tell if they were hens
jakes or toms until they reached about 60 yards and the then the hens started calling back at me and keeping the toms with them.
I through every type of call at them and got the toms and jakes all fired up but the hens keep running in front them almost to say
do not go there it was quite the show tat went on for about 11/2hours until they disappeared into the bush again and my morning was over. It was a thrill just to have that many birds nearby even though I never had a shot at them.Attachment 40072

Hard to get a Tom away once they get Hen'd up. Try later in the day once the hens get broody and are sitting and the Toms are out by themselves.

I'd consider that a great day seeing all those birds.
