New transducers are a lot bigger, more sensitive, and more expensive. I'm concerned about it getting sand blasted while trailering. Any tips to protect transducers. Also any use lubricants on trailer bunks to ease launch and recovery.

I cant say Ive ever had an issue with road wear on a transducer.
I have four boats Im responsible for at work. They get trailered a lot. The transducer problems are almost always at the other end of the cable at the cable/depthfinder interface. Usually the pins get screwed up from frequent removal. I probably average five years of life from a given depthfinder before we upgrade to a newer model.
No lube on my boats either. Just trailer carpet. The best investment you can make is a set of guide bars for assisting getting the boat properly on the bunks. I also upsize the winch too when I have the option to do so. That helps considerably for a heavy boat on sketchy launches.
Edit - on second thought, I got a new trailer last summer for one of the boats. It came with some white runners of some sort mounted on top of the bunks. I think they're nylon or some such? I cant say Ive noticed that it helped much, but perhaps it has. Might be something for you to look into
