Ya, I think I will stick with my traditional sling......
Nice invention for sure and some good thinking.
However i have my crossbow sling and do not use even that.
Carry the xbow in my arms,or on the top of my shoulder.I almost always have a backpack,so no room on my shoulder or my back for the x bow............When in the case ,the sling is useless anyway(once at least per hunt should be encased , i would say )When hunting,i just hang it on a limb or from a screw in implement.
Neat concept for an ideal hunt. I do not hunt in ideal conditions - I add and remove layers and my heavy jacket stops well below my belt line, I carry a pack and a climber stand.
It looks like it threads thru a pant belt loop or under your belt...hard to tell in the video. I wear coveralls/bibs so I don't have those. Probably still work if it is free flowing as the shoulder pad should keep it from drifting too much.
Anything that frees up your hands is a good thing !!
It is an AR tactical sling adapted to a crossbow, is not going to work very well in 99% of situations out there.
Mike, you say anything that frees up the hands is good but you know how awkward a crossbow is, this is not going to free up your hands unless the crossbow is knocking all over the place, the limbs will be rocking back and forth as you walk.
Just a gimmik
I've carried a crossbow over my shoulder using a sling...works well allows you to carry stuff in both hands and just use your elbow to stabilize it from swinging to far over and pulling it off the shoulder. That's what this design does, it'll hold it on the shoulder better.
Depending on cost compared to a standard sling would be the defining reason for success or failure on the market.
I disagree here.
The sling attaches to your belt loops on the front and rear, now make that accessible for any hunter in Ontario in the late fall. Unless you wear a belt on the outside of your hunting gear this will be a pain in the .
The position of the bow on the shoulder means that it can only be hung one way, if you switch shoulders then your quiver will get stuck into your back. I also hate hanging a bow pointed down, the bolt can nudge forward as you walk, if you do not notice this and have an immediate shot, as they show here, you can blow up your bow with a gap between the string and nock or worse is the bolt drops out. You are also carrying the loaded bow pointed down at your feet in all cases with this design.
They are just taking the AR ready design and applying it to their crossbow, but I do not think a tactical low ready sling would work on a deer rifle in 90% of situations either.
If you want the gun, or bow in this case, to be at the low ready position I would feel a heck of a lot more comfortable with it actually in my hands and not hanging on me.
The purpose of the sling is a situational one IMO. If you wear insulated pants instead of coveralls it can work. As Fox mentioned "and I can't believe I am agreeing" is as you walk and if your not paying attention, the bolt can slip. As far as rocking back and forth, it wouldn't take much effort to stop that from happening.
Sitting in a tree stand with your Xbow hanging between your legs would be uncomfortable but quick access to your Xbow rather than reaching for it hanging from a limb or bracket. Like everything, there are pros and cons to this strap but one thing I can pretty much guarantee, folks will buy it.....
Our USA friends will gobble this thing up......no question
No one in the right mind would carry a bow over their back with a bolt in it...I hope.
As far as carrying it 'loaded' in front of you, most bows (even Excaliburs now) have anti-dry fire systems, so if the bolt moved forward the trigger is inoperable.
Pretty much all Swat and Military weapons are now carried in the low slung/ready position. Makes sense for faster target acquisition when moving.
Pretty much a moot point with most Hunters, 50% of the time they are walking thru the woods before/after legal light. Beneficial for stalking.
Most of the time my bow is in it's case when I'm walking. )
