Ontario Hunting Dog License

So the hunting dog license specified as follows:
"Hunting dogs
Resident hunting dog licence $12.21
Non-resident dog licence $14.71
Note: Required where dogs are permitted for hunting deer, moose, bear and raccoon."

Has anyone ever run into an issue with a bird dog while upland hunting?
Does anyone buy a license for their dog, just to "keep in the clear", if say their dog treed a raccoon?

No license required for upland and waterfowl hunting.

Raccoon during the day does not need a dog, so no licensing needed.

At night you most be accompanied by a licensed dog and can only use a 22 rimfire.
Different hunts. Different rules.

I have a versatile breed, that may be used for tracking, so I may pony up the $12, regardless.
