I picked up a JM Marlin in 444 and traded my 77/44 for a Remlin 1894 44 Mag.
Took them both to the range last week and did I have some fun.
The 444 shot really accurately with factory 240 GN Rem ammo that came with the used gun. Sub MOA at 100. I could not be more impressed with this gun!
The 44 mag surprised me. Thought it might stink out the joint but surprisingly shot 2 MOA with 280 grain gas checked loads and well with 300 grain XTP as in 1.5 MOA. Very acceptable for a pistol cartridge.
Not surprised by the .444 results. Pretty good with the .44 mag. I scoped a m94 44mag trapper - 5 inches @100. Tried remington, umc, winchester. No luck. Put the peep site back on it.Quote:

Still have that .444 KC, if that's the one you're talking about. It's got iron sights on it now.
My daughter got her hunting license and was going to use it this fall. But they are moving into their first house mid-October so she's not going deer hunting.
The marlin 44 mag was consistent in liking max loads on both H110 and N110.Quote:
