What would be the Moose population in Ontario if nobody... would .. hunt ... Moose ...?
Moose would be hunted only by Wolfs and Bears ?
Would the Moose population go up or down or would be at some Natural ... Level ...?
Who would the Forum blame then ...?
I'm sure the population would climb some, for sure. Until vehicular traffic and increased predators caught up and took numbers down.
The bigger questions would be, what would happen if we didn't kill calves? Or! What would happen to the population if bear and wolf numbers were put back in check?

Without hunting,animal populations will increase in the short term,but,drop substantially shortly after the initial surge through habitat over feeding,heavier predation and more importantly,without conservation techniques employed by the hunting industry through funding of license and permit sales attached to it. From decades of experience,we know without a shred of doubt that government priorities will never include funding for conservation,save lip service and smoke and mirrors with no real commitment. That's why lobbying efforts are so vitally important to keep governmental feet to the fire because all they understand is money and votes,both of which go hand-in-hand.Quote:

well if NOBODY hunted moose - including unregulated hunters, the population would increase dramatically in time until a balance is struck between predators and food available.
My opinion is that hunting is the number 1 cause of decline in populations, especially by unregulated hunters who don't have to follow any harvest quota rules or other hunting rules.

Your question is too broad, in the far north there would not be much change, in areas close to highly populated areas the population would go up and match the carrying capacity of the terrain, which would vary depending on the area. You would see moose move further into southern Ontario and feast on the farmers fields.

let do something useful , lets hunting predators what is not easy ...
but that is hunting to , and require plenty of skill and dedication ...
