It is not in the speed of reading -but in Your speed of changing topics-at one post you call a country a "shirt hole"just like that -then change the subject in the next one to 2nd amendment, and try to shake off your derogatory comment.

He walked into a store with an assault-style rifle. An act in Canada that would be responded to very differently than in the U.S. where people openly carrying deadly weapons is seen as exercising a "right."

IMHO the elephant in the room is mental health. The US does not even have universal healthcare so how can they deal with mental health. Even if they could then they would have to connect that to access to firearms.

Virginia Tech shooter had all the signs but ignored. Same with the NS shooter but that lies squarely on the shoulders of the RCMP for that bungle.

That happens in Saudi Arabia to an American visiting an embassy, who gets murdered and cut up with a chainsaw and nothing much is done because the Americans need the oil and the bases and make money from these terrorists.

Governments made a decision many, many years ago both here and in American that it was cheaper and better for them to not keep mentally ill folk's in a locked down facility.

Send them back into the community, where they will diligently take their prescribed medication and all will be fine.

Given that they are mentally unstable, can sell, have access to street drugs, have no supervision, how did anyone think this was a good idea.

The paramedics, police, firefighters ,doctors and nurses pay the price of these bad decision's every day.

The repeated call's for service/help from the mentally ill on the street's is astounding and it might be a good idea to look back at a time where these poor soul's were properly cared for in a hospital, supervised fed and housed under the same roof.

They do not leave until a psychiatrist will lay his/her job on the line that they should be released and are NOT A DANGER TO THEMSELVES OR TO OTHERS. Done.
