My Buck of a lifetime scored 191 5/8 typical.

This thread is getting out of hand. The judgments being tossed around are just sad.

I want to go south for a hog hunt. Everything about that 'hunt' will be handled much the same as Marc's wt hunt... Guided, under contract, paying the landowner and probably numerous other individuals.

Its the only way for me to get the game I want... But some here wouldn't call that a hunt, and would berrate me for taking part in it? Weird.

my point is you talk about ethics and laws, but you post pictures of deer and a cow moose that have not yet bin tagged, both illegal and against forum policy, you say that he bought a trophy, yet you obviously paid to go to another country in pursuit of a trophy... hipicritical...

ya... go ahead look up my location... im no where close to the gta or ottawa or any other major city to boot! ive bin to toronto a total of once in the last 7 years, never stepped foot in ottawa...

Just find it hard to come to this site for some meaningful dialog with all my fellow hunters and I have to witness all the mudslinging!

If that buck was on the wall at Bass Pro or at Cabela's the aisle would be plugged with guys! It's a great buck and its the thing that dreams are made of. Personally I wouldn't do the ranch hunt, mostly because I don't have the money HAH! And also because I'm chasin deer here at home hoping something comes out of the woods. highly unlikely but you never know - right. But who knows? Maybe in ten yrs from now I'll get cancer or something and just maybe I'll change my mind and want to stare at one of those big buggers on my wall! The area I'm in has produced some big deer over the years ... the largest I ever witnessed was 219 ... but up in Blind River I don't think that will ever happen. So he made a choice, and it was his decision, and he fulfilled HIS DREAM!

If he tried to deceive us or enter it into a big deer contest or something else I'd be all over him like stink on a skunk!

So lets end this mudslinging and get on to more important stuff.

Hell ya. A southern hog hunt has been on my bucket list for a while . I chat with a few guys in Georgia and Alabama , florida that regularly take them on public and private land. Perhaps we could look into what it would cost a few Canucks to make a trip down and hunt for a few days.

First off thank you all for your support!! I hope we can get on with this thread. Things have been respectful in general. I'm not rich but comfortable. This hunt was 6k plus travel. I spent money on worse things in life. I never bought a hunt before but wanted the experience. Would i do it again absolutely. Maybe not for a deer who knows what the future brings. But my goal was archived. Cheers to all

I find it funny too how a guy who has never killed a big buck thinks only a 160 class constitutes a trophy. Can all you seasoned internet hunters see that what this thread represents is everything you rip on a regular basis? I think this fella has been watching a little too much trophy hunting on TV and not enough time out in the field learning to do it himself. A sad sorry message to come from the hunting fraternity and you all know it. ( and say it on a regular basis on this board you hypocrites)

Perhaps if you knew how to put yourself in front of say a 130 class buck on a regular basis you'd realize how ridiculous it is to suggest that if you can't kill a 160 or better then paying tens of thousands of dollars to buy a 190 from a game farm is a great hunt.

WHO CARES if it was on a ranch...BIG FN DEAL.
And I have NEVER criticized anyone who hunts ranches...to each their own and I don't have wild tv "waste of money" id rather be outdoors chasin my own deer, moose etc etc

Marc has the right to go hunt and pay for it if he wants as long as it is legal there. That's his business, BUT when you are in a penned in enclosure and the animal is confined to a designated area, where you are GARUNTEED to harvest a trophy sized deer, do not tell me that is a fair chase scenario. That is not the SPIRIT of hunting. Those hunts come across as ego trips there are some very good deer guides in Ontario, of course here they are not guaranteed and you have to really work for your deer. . If it is not a level playing field, and this is just my personal opinion if it is not fair chase it is not real hunting. I'm glad Marc enjoyed his experience he sounds like a guy whose company I would appreciate for a day in a duck blind, and that is a huge deer! But that in no way to me equals the 130 class deer that some guy harvested who got up every Sat and Sunday morning at 4am and hunted from Oct till Dec under rain and snow and everything else in between till he downed it. It was a guaranteed kill with the least amount of time and effort. I'm glad Marc enjoyed his experience and if other people would pay for a guaranteed trophy that is your right and I am not putting anyone down for it. I just don't know if it belongs on a hunting forum where everyone is hunting in wild situations.

A trophy is a personal goal and memory whether it be a small doe, big buck, elephant or simply completing a marathon. You may share it with others and they may acknowledge your accomplishment but at the end of the day we are all individuals and for thousands of different reasons we may think how we would have done it slightly differently. This is human nature. We zig when we should have zagged. If the trophy is acquired in a legal fashion and satisfies your objective than you are the winner. Everyone else may be jealous or think you are crazy but that is the norm in any sporting event.

Example: My buddy shot a very nice 11 pointer last Wednesday but in my opinion is not exceptional. I shared in his joy and he is having this trophy mounted by a taxidermist so that he can forever relive the experience.

Good for you in harvesting "YOUR" trophy of a lifetime, thanks for sharing the story and don't let detractors get to you.
