To leash or not to leash!!!

so now advocateing leashing dogs on private property to... $h!+ happens, cant bubble wrap your dog, or your kids or your self... i can let my dog out my back door and she could get hit by a pocupine, eatin by a bear or a wolf, this could happen just as easy if she was tied up in the back yard too...

Not finished;

the land owner was so mad at the beavers that he talked to a trapper about trapping the beavers out completely. Trapper said he would have to talk to the OMNR about getting permission to trap nuisance beaver.

Dog owner did go in and OMNR said no to permission to trap the beavers and furthermore said that he shouldn't let his dog run off a leash, adding the law states dogs are not to run at large!!!

Can't bubble wrap your dog but you sure can keep him on a leash !!!

Wow CL I comeback after a few days and see your still at it Funny you mention many in this thread are the loud minority yet methinks that the title belongs to you .good on ya . Lol Anyways that area of yours seems to have a real issue with straying dogs Yup and a very dedicated dog warden . I'm going to assume you don't get along with your neighbours very well eh ? Personally if a hunters dog or a neighbours dog comes in the yard for the most part I just catch them up and return them home or tie them up and call them . Nobody around here calls the law dogs in to handle a straying dog . I don't like them running deer either especially in winter but I'm not going to have a hemmorage about it . As far as that dog that was caught in a trap near a trail that now has over 40 thousand signatures attached to it . Well it was very sad and unfortunate accident that was preventable by both parties although even as a trapper myself the trap was poorly set . Either not set at all there or at minimum been set in a dog proof manner which is easily done .

Weather permitting , we are hitting the woods to morrow. Both setters will be off leash to hunt. I'll know where they are and they'll know where I am. They won't chase a deer, because they have been trash - broke to deer. They won't be biting any person we might come across.

I take full responsibility for whatever might happen realizing that when you unleash a dog , lots can happen -- coyote attack, broken leg, caught on a barbed wire fence, get giardia from coon pee, accidently shot , caught in a trap , lost ... etc.

Until someone can tell me how to use hunting dogs and keep them on a leash , that's what we will be doing to morrow. I hope that's o- kay.

(I'm sorry there is no leash on the dog in my avatar , but she wasn't going anywhere. :) )

:scream:Damn I'm starting to think I know more about whats going on in CL's neighbourhood with dogs and his neighbours than I could garner in my own sitting around the coffee shop for days on end .:D

cant run at large on his own 360 acre property now... man farmers are gonna take a pounding LOL, not sure why a trapper wouldnt be allowed to trap a beaver on private property either... unless out of season, in which case would have to wait for the season...

this was something we clarified in our bylaw here last time we made changes , wording was added to exempt hunting dogs in the act of hunting from the leash bylaw

The biggest threat to the deer population Chris ? ...my "mutt" (pure Breed Bernese Mountain Dog) unleashed, at large, rooming free on my 100 acre hay field....

You better call the CO Chris....LOL....
