By the way, I wasn't there ... but there's so much that can be easily and fairly accurately be gathered from the article. For sure, ALL Oakville community centers have posted signage ... that I've seen with my own eyes, and even this one, I don't live that far from it. The title implies the ticket was issued due to an infraction of social distancing, but in fact the write up and ticket posted clarify it is disobeying a provincial order. The guy challenged the officer, after being told to get out ... the signs are posted, officer comes up says get out, he pushes back by saying, "come on, it's an empty parking lot" ... it's all in the article ... that guy just provided any judge enough evidence to raise that fine and enforce it all he wants. Sorry, don't mean to type all this ... but I want to make sure everyone understands, I wasn't there, but I don't think we're having to guess too much here either.

I seen it on the news where they interview him and his son..... So he challenged him, whats the big deal..... I wasn't there but if that's all he did was say......"come on, the place is empty"......IMO... no ticket should have been given... Sometimes people with some power get carried away... Like I said I wasn't there but if I just took the fathers word for it, no ticket should have been given.
On a side note, lets ..........Open up the boat ramps :goodstuff:

Why? Closing fishing makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Every area is different, I can fish and not see another soul let alone within 6 feet of someone.

I fully understand why the south is cranky and jealous but like I said before, I take a huge pay cut not to have to deal with a cluttered environment.

MPP John Yakabuski (MNRF) did absolutely the right thing....as OakNut says, there are many areas in the province where fishing can be done under the EMA rules...so let the municipalities make the call as to what THEY feel is best for their constituents. That is the proper way to govern.

Ang finally realized the error of his ways and gave a somewhat backhanded apology but an apology nonetheless. I dont doubt it was more about saving the brand but should serve as a reminder to others of the old adage.. dont bite the hand that feeds you!

I just heard rumour that the Town of Port Hope has banned access through municipal property to the Ganaraska River. Not 100% sure but ?????

As has been mentioned previously, municipalities have the power to impose their own restrictions. For the time being, Chatham-Kent has decided not to create any new legislation regarding boat ramps.

No wonder if you've ever seen the shyte show along the river banks for the trout opener.

T 21, I did one year, it was a party all night, lots of drunks falling in the water at the crack of dawn. The true fisherpeople , the ones there for the fishing, not the party ,would not be close to the yahoos in town.
