Well first off you probably will not be getting that house in the Muskokas or even the Kawarthas for under 200k. Your concern about work is well founded as you are in a trade where there is plenty of competition and the locals hire their own kin for jobs.Now you can work for cottagers and city folk but a lot is seasonal while they are up there.If your good and I am sure you are, you should be making a killing in the GTA in your trade.People tend to forget the long term costs with moving out the city for instance College or University for their kids in later years.

Kids are not in my future. We are seriously considering B.C. though. Houses and acreage is available for 200k. Also, I fortunately have some family in the okanagan valley who tell me it's booming out there with development right now. I just want close to steady work and a shot at owning a house provided by income from my trade. I make 30$+ an hour here but I hate the grind here. I'll never e able to own a house in Toronto (not that I want to) because I simply just don't make enough....

No lol. The plan would be to live on my uncle's property and work and save as much as we can. Then decide where we're going to go. We are planning a visit in the spring and will be checking out areas we may want to settle

You won't find a house for 200k in Muskoka ( I lived there for 14 years and just moved last years) or Halliburton anymore but you will have no issue finding work. Especially right now and especially a carpenter! Gosh, if you don't have a job these days is because you don't want to work. A good carpenter can work all year around there if you play it right but most guys will take a few month off to take a break from working hard for three seasons. Lots of dock and inside work to get done in the winter though. You can see lumber been dragged on the ice on any lakes in Muskoka as soon as the ice is tick enough.... But Gilroy can't see that from the city...

I'm not sure what's the best way for you to figure it out but this forum is probably not the best.

Literally unlimited work, year round for carpenters in Halliburton.
If you have any doubts try and find someone good to show up and work in that area.
People I talked to lately wouldn’t even quote jobs. There booked until spring.
