Sorry I was too broad in my statement. You're right it is mostly a Southern Ontario problem right now. The Minister could have drawn a line for closure. I realize it's a different world up there. I'm from Pembroke originally.
It's a crap show down here with the piecemeal approach municipalities have used. The only people that have been impacted are the people who don't own property along a body of water.....which is most people!
I still stand by my criticism of Mr. Yakabuski. No leadership at all in this matter.

#1 - he broke the law ... the signs are posted ... you have to be really ignorant to not realize you are breaking the law in this case. So the by-law officer DIDN't have to provide a warning. He did give him a warning.
#2 - The guy should have said, "Sorry" and gotten off the site ... then ask questions ... "Didn't realize it applied to the parking lot ... am I understanding the correctly?"

You see the FATHER's view on the news, and are judging the officer with ... that's it?? Come on ... everyone and anyone can appear to be a victim in this case. How do you know that is the correct story, without giving the officer a chance or the benefit of the doubt? I know there are power tripped cops out there, I had to deal with one and got off in court ... but we have to be careful with stereotyping.

It's not a rumour ... been following it every day ... they tried to get Province to delay fish opening. They weren't getting any luck, so I think yesterday they banned ALL access to the Ganaraska. Up to Tuesday, you could still access parts of it, as long as you stayed out of the Conservation Areas, and south of the railtracks - park and boat launch. Not anymore, it's been all shut down from the municipal by-law.

Yes,we can as long as social distancing is practiced which is the issue on the opener. Fishing and hunting seasons aren't closed. Municipalities have closed boat ramps,but,they'll be opened shortly when the province starts the re-opening..

In my area Mississippi Mills has opened up all their boat launches, but you can be sure bylaw will be closely monitoring social distancing rules.

I think it would be less likely to catch the bug at your local launch ramp as long as you're not lined up like cordwood.

If it's OK to line up for groceries,beer,liquor stores and gas stations,a boat ramp is a walk in the park. Logically,by municipalities keeping them closed,they haven't a legal leg to stand on and find themselves in a whole world of trouble very quickly. It's the kiss of death for local politicians and do they ever know it.

Yea..if x20 boats show up opening morning at the crack of dawn, they will have to close it down if guys aren't patient like all the other lines of late. Going to be a slower process than normal.
