So why was it disappointing? Reality check if you want lots of action you need to take up skeet. Upland for the most part these days is enjoying the walk and watching your dog work. Lifting 2 grouse and your happy with the dog work I would rate it as a great day.Quote:

My pup moved two today near Stratford while out for a bush walk. Pointed one and bumped the other. Not bad for a 4and half month old. I think they are around but not in huge numbers like after that freak snow storm we had. For a day or two, I think there were a lot of them.
Its always disappointing when the dog works as hard as he does and doesn't get rewarded with a retrieve. He's a little guy, hunting for 3-4 hours is pretty extreme for a dog his size, especially if he isn't being rewarded/reinforced for what he's doing.Quote:

Was out this afternoon for a few hours poor Elly headed for the swamp since it looked just damp but sunk up to her neck in muck. I thought she was a goner but managed to crawl out. She found a nasty old chukar from possibly the spring and presented it to me happier than a pig in . Never saw one bird this afternoon but it was a beautiful fall day.
Just finished 4 days of guiding for woodcock. They did really well and had three generation of English spaniel each guy had three dogs,lol. Lots of birds in the areas we frequent.
5 for 12 yesterday north of London area. went through a whole belt of shells! Shoulder is a little sore today lol
