Joe..were you born into a home with strong Christian believes ? As a child you were probably 'indoctrinated' into faith by default. Very few people become religious later in life if they were not exposed to a religion during their formative years.Quote:

I know locally a lot of the churches have closed due to lack of a congregation to support them. It's sad to see that if you desire a Religious life that it's become more difficult to find a Church to attend.
That is why the 'born again' crowd has 12 children. Nothing to do with birth control, they know that they are a dying breed.
Science continues to work towards explaining these things, that is part of science, finding things that you do not know and pursuing them not sitting back and saying that there are no answers.Quote:

You say that you are not trying to push your beliefs but would you really walk into a room and say "Racism - True of False, discuss" and just sit back and watch it hit the fan. You do this continually here, you walk in, throw some backwards belief like this or that Christ is the saviour or that the woman's place is in the home, etc, etc just to be that guy, it really is annoying for those who grew up with friends of different cultural backgrounds, but you can blame my parents for raising me around those who were not homogeneous.

I would say for myself, I was closer to aetheist during my formative years. Far more spiritual today.

Not really.
With respect to "society", morals and values. It starts young, comes from our parents, who in turn...During our formative years, experiences and environments..Help solidify our own personal "compasses"

Except that it is not 67% equally spaced out, those in the know tend not to be religious. Scientists, surgeons, etc, tend to skew significantly towards the atheist and those with minimal education tend to follow what they were indoctrinated with as a child.Quote:
