Well to counter that argument I would say that there is a BIG difference between not recording or reporting the theft or loss of a generator or bicycle and a firearm.You can afford to loose a generator or bicycle and be lazy in not recording their details and chalking off the loss.

But not so re FIREARMS and its something a lot of Gun owners seem to be Not aware off.

• 105. (1) Every person commits an offence who
  
  • (a) having lost a prohibited firearm, a restricted firearm, a non-restricted firearm, a prohibited weapon, a restricted weapon, a prohibited device, any prohibited ammunition, an authorization, a licence or a registration certificate, or having had it stolen from the person’s possession, does not with reasonable despatch report the loss to a peace officer, to a firearms officer or a chief firearms officer; or
  • (b) on finding a prohibited firearm, a restricted firearm, a non-restricted firearm, a prohibited weapon, a restricted weapon, a prohibited device or any prohibited ammunition that the person has reasonable grounds to believe has been lost or abandoned, does not with reasonable despatch deliver it to a peace officer, a firearms officer or a chief firearms officer or report the finding to a peace officer, a firearms officer or a chief firearms officer.

  • (a) is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years; or
  • (b) is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction.
    
    So I suppose the Registry really is not gone is it? You still have to record and keep the details of your guns because if they are stolen or get lost you have a duty imposed by the Criminal Code under pain of punishment.To the smart guys out there thinking "well I just wont call the police they will never know where the gun originated from" therefore I wont suffer the fall out.

    It might work out for you until the criminal that stole your gun takes the investigating officer on a tour of his previous break and enters.Then BINGO the Police charge you for not reporting your gun stolen.He,He.
    
    P.S. I have taken many a criminal on tour and have been shown where stolen property originated from.

Gilroy, you tried to sneak that in there didn't you? There is nothing in the regulation quoted above, that say's a person has to record the info? It say's they must report the theft, loss, whatever. Report vs. record? 2 different words entirely, with completely different meanings!

Exactly. Mulcair is nothing without Quebec. Expect a registry within the first year.

In the end it will be a quebec registry and a few scattered sheeple that cant think for themselves. There will be few if any westerners who will register again.

If you have not recorded anything about your guns, how would you be able to report them to a Police Officer.No report = charge.

Now I know what boxes need to be filled in for a Theft of Firearms Occurrence.Believe me it includes Make,Model and Serial numbers
and actions.

This is so that it can be entered onto CPIC and actually be useful information.

I suppose you could try and say to the officer "someone broke in and stole my .22 Cooey, I wish you luck on that one.He,he.

P.S. That section is not a regulation its a Criminal Code offence section.

A registry means adding public service employees. Mulcair will move on that asap and something tells me that it won't be based in Miramichi. Wanna guess where? Here's a clue it starts with Q _ _ _ _ _ .

But you will have NOTHING to report will you because you have not recorded anything.So how in Gods name will you be able to report the theft with any pertinent details.Do you really believe that if you place gets broken into and you call the Police to comply with that section you can simply say "Yeh officer they broke into my place and stole a bunch of guns"/ LOL

Well yes I do! We're not talking about what you, I or 100,000 other gun owners would do. We're talking about the fact there is no law that compels a person to have the information recorded. So if a gun owner did not have that info, he/she would still be required to report it if there was a theft/loss and the officer taking the report would simply have to check the boxes N/A. The victim would be fully compliant since he/she has done their duty to report it. End of story.
