The cowardice of our current government to tackle the criminals. Our previous government was implementing mandatory sentences for gangsters. Our current government reversed this allowing our criminals to prosper.

Compared to MOST countries in the World we are doing OK. The tipping point for more gun control has not been reached here but again WHEN we have another mass shooting,MAYBE COMPLETELY UNRELATED TO GANG VIOLENCE the politicians will act on behalf of the population. The Danforth shootings and the Mosque shootings in Quebec were not gang related. The Ecole Polytechnic shootings were not gang related, the RCMP shootings In Myercought and the east Coast were not gang related.
This excellent post pretty much sums everything up,perfectly. It will be very interesting to see what transpires over the next 10 years. Hopefully,Gilroy is right if other than a bunch of hootin',hollerin' and political posturing, not one damn thing changes. Sure works for me.
BTW,someone mentioned Patvetzel. We haven't heard from him since July last year. Does anyone know where he went or if he's still with us?
Not intentionally dredging this up again but I had an interesting conversation on this topic today.
Bumped into an old timer today as he was taking a stroll through the jobsite and the topic of gun control came up as he is an avid pistol collector and shooting club member who came from the GTA. After a bunch of special words about his city of origin and other major Canadian cities he told me of his time spent looking for a correlation between the increased violence and its cause. One answer came to light, not gun sales, not government, not policing but immigration. He said no one should dare ever to mention the words in public but immigration numbers spiked in 2014 and Toronto's shootings jumped by nearly 200 incidents in 2015. Take this as you will, couldn't help but ponder the idea.
Myself, I think we need to regulate fecal matter from the Torontonians due to the recent......

Actually handguns are allowed for hunting in Ontario. If you have a handgun, antique enough to fall outside the Firearm Act there apparently is nothing to prevent its use for hunting, in the province. You should however carry certification that attests to it antiquity with you. The reason the regulation state that you are not allowed to hunt with handguns is the restriction placed upon them by Federal Firearm Act which limits their use to formal ranges. This came up awhile back in Ask a CO - Ontario Out of Doors.
You don stop hunting because you grow old. You grow old because you stop hunting.

They used to say you could not use a handgun but that was removed because an air pistol under 500fps is still a handgun. You cannot use a handgun for big game in Ontario though. You can use a pistol that was made before 1898 for hunting small game, would be fun to shoot a rabbit with an old webley, or if you are made of money a very early C96 Mauser.
Interesting you should mention the Danforth shooting, what was published about it was not all that convincing. The suspects brother appeared to be into drugs. He was move from western Canada to Ontario, it sounded like the individual who got the brother out of jail, may have done so to have him cuts some type of potent drug, which he appeared to have mishandled, that basically turn him into a vegetable. That same friend was a gun trafficker, who I feel set the suspect up with his firearm, and may have set him on a course of some type of societal revenge motif, as pay back for his brother’s condition. Alas, an other conspiracy theory, but there were some elements around that seem to belong but didn’t appear to get connected.
