I'm with you 110 percent trimmer on the "NEVER" vote for any party/person that even remotely might support/ initiate gun control. However there are still some naïve folks that think liberal/ndp governments will not ever revisit gun control. there's only one party that at least somewhat is interested in us (law abiding firearm owners) as voters. not that they really support us all that much, but at least once in a while they throw the dog a bone (e.g. scrap the long gun registry). the other parties are doing the opposite as soon as any (and I mean absolute any) opportunity arises.
so why can they do it? south the border it would be political suicide, here the media will commend them for it.
the media landscape has changed dramatically over the last couple of years. we should take this as an opportunity to influence more and more people (just like the anits have done in the last decade) by going different routes. we have seen what social media can do; e.g. that stupid lion
dumb people are easy to motivate (unfortunately) as long as they like the format of the message. there are so many actual facts posted on here lately. however, we all know, preaching to the choir has a very limited effect.
Honestly,DanO,if you think of Harper as a dictator,you really need to find out what a dictator is. How about Moamar Khadafi and Sadam Husein,Fidel Castro...those are real dictators. There's nothing wrong with helping the "lower end" of society flourish and the more the better. It makes for a very healthy democracy when folks aren't living hand-to-mouth and paycheck to paycheck. That's when trade unionists under the NDP banner can't take of advantage of them with pie-in-the-sky socialist BS. DanO, my suggestion to you is to broaden your view and look at what's important for this country. Never mind yourself, since that is selfish and narrow minded. If you took the time to actually educate yourself to what each party stands for and it's respective policies, you would soon come to the realization that Harper is not a "dictator" as you say. There's a common misconception where people think of a Canadian conservative as an equivalent of an American Republican and a Canadian Liberal as an American Democrat with a Canadian New Democrat slightly left of a Liberal. In reality, our Conservatives are the "kissin' cousins" of American Democrats....just to illustrate as an example. That puts our Liberals considerably left of center with the NDP w-a-a-y left of them making them so far left to call them ultra leftist. One really needs to examine the roots of the NDP in Canadian history. The were formed from the old CCF (Commonwealth Co-operative Federation) which came from a western Canada bloc largely populated by Communists and Marxist-Leninist Socialists along with the labor union movement,roots that still exist to this day. Except for a full-blown,active political party like The Communist Party of Canada,they can't get much more ULTRA leftist than that.Quote:
