GW11, I'm all for trapping and taking care of the problems anyway possible.
I have heard of a dog that was on a walk with its owner and not on a leash and it got caught in a conibear trap. Walker was at fault. Also there was signs up at the time

Or people could just keep themselves and their pets out of city stormwater ponds if they want to be safe and responsible. The common sense approach.

Unfortunately this one of the cases where there is no right answer. I believe this is the same system where an individual drowned in a flash flood last summer.
Sometimes the best way is not the best way when people can be involved.

(I felt badly seeing them all trapped at Komoka as I enjoyed watching them work, but I assumed it was done for a good reason/necessary.)

I'm going laugh my off next spring when water levels are bursting over the dams and flooding ppls basement. Let the beavers go FULL BORE. Aurora can be a lesson for rest of Ontario.

My thoughts exactly!

Not sure what the issue is with using 330s to trap the animals. Just keep your sets totally submerged in runways or directly in the entrance of the house/bank burrow. Zero chance of catching anyone's dog. Trapper just needs to use common sense and take in to account the situation so a humane set can be made. If you make a scent post set with castoreum attractant in a heavily populated area, with the 330 only half submerged, then you're a stupid trapper that does a disservice to the industry and every trapper in this province. A set like that could potentially attract and kill a stray dog off the leash. No need for it. Keep the sets submerged.

Trap every other week, and when traps are set, close the entrance, post signs to keep out, after that the people are on their own
