There is really not a "solid" when you look at the 22LR. Every bullet except the new lead free green bullets are just copper washed lead with a different profile. The "solid" that you are referring to is actually just a soft lead bullet, still flattens out and mushrooms like crazy, unlike a solid from a centerfire. The only difference is that the hollow point fills with flesh and opens up much quicker, less penetration but more violent expansion. Dad bought a brick of 22 Long accidentally once, that 29gr bullet round nose bullet still killed groundhogs and raccoons but did not stop them like 22LR with a hollow point did. I use stingers for goats on the farm, even the big old ones, does not exit, which is perfect.
