Just get it out I think right now is the perfect time to put out salt or mineral for this fall so it has time to break down
try to keep the pregnant does on the property. And hope them and their fawns stay bucks will find them when it’s time
Where I hunt, a mineral lick isn’t a sure fire way to kill a deer. I use a mineral lick to draw deer so that I can get photos of them with my trail cameras. This gives me information about the local deer population.
The first thing I do when establishing a mineral lick is to put out feed as that acts as an immediate attractant. Out of habit, deer will continue to come to the site, even after the food has been eaten. Eventually, the deer will discover the minerals and will keep coming back.
It’s been my experience that deer visit my mineral blocks mostly under the cover of darkness.
