Do you sit in the same spot all week ?

Biggest mistake I see guys make is put up stands or blinds and clear massive amounts of brush away for shooting lanes etc. The deer are moving through the particular area for a reason and any changes to cover etc most certainly changes their patterns. Trim enough to get a few small lanes but if it involves a chainsaw you’re likely altering things enough that they will make other plans as to where they travel. The exception is hard funnels or pinch points where there isn’t any other option for them. Spot and stalk has nailed many bucks for me and seldom am I found in a stand or blind. Like others said doesn’t matter what cover scent etc you spray on yourself or put on trees..you will not beat a mature bucks nose, gotta play wind.

Main thing is when you leaving your sit. Don’t get busted exiting your blind. You can get busted walking in doesn’t mean spot is blown. But if you get seen leaving out the door down a tree stand they’ll remember

I have two ground blinds and two tree stands, depending whether its bow or rifle on what I use. I have a summit climber which I will set up in random spots like the view of a beaver dam and it's paid off on a few nice bucks. Setting up trail cams too see deer patterns is lots of fun but big bucks are learning as much as we are!

Ive got about 1500 acres available to me and use it

We have a crown land camp. Our crew picks their watch by straw draw ans spend the first couple of days setting them up. Just out of a concern for safety,each member goes to the watch in the dark and we come out in the dark and only one member wanders around. That way,we know where everyone is.

Multiple spots to sit on a mix of private and public properties. It can lead to overthinking things, but it makes sense to have different setups for different wind, crops, season (early or late) and time constraints.

It keeps things interesting and seems to keep the deer from "patterning" us.

Whether it’s moose or deer hunting, I have several favourite spots plus some other contingency spots. Where I decide to “sit” depends on the amount of fresh sign and to some extent the wind speed and direction. I really like to explore/still-hunt so it’s not very often that I’ll stay in the stand for more than 4 hours. Although it’s fun to sit in a tree stand and lay the thunder down on an unsuspecting buck, I prefer to snack em when I’m I’m sneaking around in their turf.

Multiple locations. Some are just a nice rock on a ridge. I don’t do well sitting in just one spot. I do have one pretty productive stand for evening sits during rifle though and I’ll sit it more often than not. Morning always changes.

2 spots, one for morning, one for evening. Haven’t changed in 20+ years. Morning stand has produced 40+ deer through various seasons for a number of hunters. Evening stand 20+

The 40+ stand is our best producer. We used to put someone in it every evening. After 20+ years and 40+ morning deer killed there there has been a grand total of 1 doe shot there on an evening sit. Most evenings now no one even bothers with it.

Success is maximized by spending as much time as possible in those two stands. The objective for whitetail hunting is to find these spots and stick with them…,
