They need the salt even in the middle of winter

This salt lick (buried) was put out mid fall for the hunt season...and wasn't touched. I went back out in Mar and saw that it was actively used over the winter.

interesting, ment to buy one last week when we went up but just havent had the time to go pick one up with the hours i work. we usually put 1 or two out in sept or oct.
They last a long time and are cheap to buy. I always added some whenever I was around. Easy to carry in a good frame pack.
So I finally decided to do the drive and check in on my 2 spots....can't believe someone actually stole the lick off the ground on one of the spots. Hopefully my chained cameras stay on for the next few months...frustrating
You sure it was a person, reason I ask is................ I got my young hunter to put up a camera and a salt block. It has been there for a month, he goes to replace his camera card only to discover his salt block vanished. He too thought someone took it but after looking at the camera pics it was racoons removing it.
He has the camera set to 3 picks every 5 seconds... So it shows them (almost comedian like) rolling/pushing it out of camera range. He never die find it yet.
I read on the web that the Bear took the salt block ,
also years ago I had a big plastic pan with 75 kg road salt
and next year found 50 m away empty with predator teeth mark I assume Bear or Wolf no camera picture
since that I bolt the salt block in the wood box with iron nail throe the block
