I used a Model 1885 Low Wall in .223 as a varmint rifle. I preferred the Ruger's sliding safety to cocking the hammer on the Browning. It was definitely a tack driver but so pretty that I didn't like taking it out in bad conditions.Quote:

I have one in 7mm-08. An accurate rifle. The challenge I had was to find a scope with suitable eye relief. I finally went with a Vortex Scout. That said, I love it.
Scope mounting can be a challenge on the #1 because the mounts are further forward than on a bolt action. When I had mine I was lucky enough to locate a pair of hard-to-find Ruger extension rings.Quote:
